• Channel flipping the other night brought us to a special on PBS about frogs. I had no idea whatsoever that a fungus is spreading throughout most of the world, endangering the frog species. That’s right – frogs may go extinct if they can’t figure this thing out. They do believe the fungus was caused by humans. Shocker. I can’t even imagine a world without frogs!
  • I recently found a Rickey Henderson rookie card in the depths of my closet. Totally forgot that I even had it. He was elected to the Hall of Fame this year, so I’m guessing the value of the card is pretty high now. Even better – I don’t even remember doing this, but I had it protected in a hard plastic sleeve that snaps shut. So the condition of the card is pristine. There are days I wish that I had the time to do that kind of stuff anymore. Not necessarily collecting sports cards, but just having the time to do a frivolous project. BTW, a quick look shows that the card is going for anywhere between $79-99 dollars. Should I sell it?
  • I said a year or two ago that the Bruins would get my money again when they proved they were for real. Nobody knows for sure if they’re truly for real until the playoffs, but I am coughing up money for playoff  games this time. I already have tickets to game 2 of the first round and I’m buying more. I called the Bruins yesterday to see if they had ticket plans for ALL playoff games because I saw this page on their website, but it turns out you have to be a full season ticket holder to purchase tickets for all playoff games. That’s too bad, because I would have bought some right on the spot. Oh well.
  • My favorite spam email subject header this week: “New size for Men especially for new feelings of women at once.”
  • I am still sitting on the sidelines regarding my next phone, being uncharacteristically patient. This is not like me. I have no idea what I am waiting for. The IPhone surely beckons, but something in the deep, dark recesses of my mind is preventing me from switching to AT&T.
  • This video (courtesy of old friend Brooklahn) put a smile on my face. It really is worth watching a couple of times and it’s only about ten seconds long.
  • I now get both the NHL and MLB Network cable channels through Verizon. This might make it harder to get rid of cable because both networks have some pretty good shows. The NHL network has a great little show called “A Day In Life” which follows an NHL player around as he gets ready for game day. MLB has an awesome nightly show of highlights and live “look-ins” at games going on. Damn! Just when I thought I had the solution to get rid of cable – good programming! Damn you!
