I’ve been to Monterey, California before, and I sit here writing today from an absolutely gorgeous 2 bedroom suite at a place called Seascape Resort in Monterey. We’re here for a company function, and this is what life is like on the other side. You see, we’re a profitable company in a fast-growing and exploding business and you can see it in people’s eyes – we’re excited. By no means do we dominate the market, but you know what? Dr. Pepper and 7-Up do a pretty damn good business on their own. Two years ago we were a struggling, overstaffed company with little direction. Now we’re a lean company, 500 less employees and our revenue and profits have just gone through the roof. It feels really good to know that I’ve had a hand in this, however big or small, and that we’re aptly rewarded for the hard work we’ve put into it. Another thing I like is that we’re not cocky, either. I have yet to see one person act or say that they’re content with where we are. A good sign. Every company has it warts – there is no perfect job – we’re not perfect by any stretch, but it’s exciting to be a part of such a dramatic turnaround and having senior people tell me that I have contributed. Nice. Now, it’s off to enjoy the beach………
